14 March – Anson Primary school

Mar 18th 2024

Today was a day for the muscles. We’ve really enjoyed sowing our peas and runner beans so after a quick sunflower sowing session to take home and show the parents what they’ve been up to this term, the children picked up some shovels and we started to dig!

Why?

Because we’re having a shuffle about of the growing spaces and we’re so excited to take you on the journey with us.

Todays task helped us to give a little lesson in tool safety. How to place tools when not using them, how to use tools when using them.

We ran out of spades so I was helping the children using a trowel, we had a giggle but it was another great lesson in the importance of using the right tools.

We then had a broken wheelbarrow, so cue more laughter!

The soil was full of worms so we were able to talk about the importance of worms and how lots of worms equals super good soil and then when digging we came across a strawberry plant so cue an impromptu potting up session to give it a temporary home.

This type of hands on learning is what stays with the children and it’s so exciting to be on this journey with them.
